About Amanda
Hi, I'm Amanda... psychologist, educator of mental health, mother, grandmother, and author of The In Sync Method
I started my career as a newly-graduated psychologist in 2001 in the rural sector of the Hunter Valley region in NSW in EAP services. I soon realised that most people are just trying to find peace and harmony in their lives, they are wanting to get along with others and are doing their best to deal with their daily life struggles and challenges.
Over my many years of counselling I have learnt that most people are looking for ways to build more positive connections with self and build better relationships with others.
I now focus on providing a broad range of evidence-based strategies and techniques to help people better manage their mental health while also building stronger connections in their lives. These strong connections have a positive impact on people’s psychological health and general wellbeing.
It is important to provide people with options when it comes to managing their mental health and general wellbeing. I believe there is no one model of therapy that works for all and that is why I use a client centered approach.
The type of therapy I provide will vary depending on individual needs and circumstances. Treatment provided may include cognitive-behaviour therapy, interpersonal therapy, relaxation and stress management techniques, skills training including problem solving skills, anger management and communication skills.
How I got interested in Psychology
When I was a teenager, I had severe social anxiety, and it was debilitating. It held me back in so many aspects of my life. I struggled at school and was not able to reach my full potential, my anxiety held me back in life. Most people could not pick that I was anxious because my temperament is generally happy and outgoing. So, I was able to mask my anxiety when in public. Having anxiety is exhausting but it made me more attuned to other people’s pain and suffering.
My anxiety helped me to be more sensitive and compassionate to other people’s struggles with mental health issues and the ways in which we feel stuck in life. People felt comfortable to share their stories and concerns with me. My interest in human nature grew and this led to me studying psychology. I found my passion, helping others. It brings so much joy to see others thriving. People put their trust in me to help them develop better ways to manage their mental health and deal with the things that are holding them back in life.

Why The In Sync Method?
The In Sync Method helps us explore what gets us stuck and finds ways to take back control.
I wrote a book about something that many people relate to including myself, feeling stuck. Being trapped in our own self-defeating habits and limiting beliefs. Knowing what to do but not trusting in yourself enough to do it. Struggling to create healthy change to achieve better mental health outcomes or create a life rich in meaning and connection.
My book The In Sync Method is a collection of practical coping strategies that help people better manage their mental health, deal with daily life struggles and address self-defeating patterns of behaviour. People often feel stuck and want to find helpful practical ways to take back control of their life.
With over 20 years of experience I have found that people just want practical strategies to help make positive changes in their lives. We all want to feel in control of our lives, to feel In Sync, to stay connected to what matters most to us.
I would like people to use The In Sync Method as a guide to find more peace and harmony in their lives. When people are more content and happier, they have greater capacity to give to others in more meaningful ways.

My book, ‘The In Sync Method,’ is a collection of practical coping strategies that assist people in better managing their mental health, dealing with daily life struggles, and addressing self-defeating patterns of behaviour. People seek practical, helpful ways to take control of their lives.
People usually know what is right for them; this book provides a common-sense approach that aids in transitioning from knowing to doing. It’s all about actions – the things we can consistently do in our daily lives to create positive, meaningful changes.
Don’t let anything hold you back, especially your own self-defeating habits and beliefs.
